Making Black Beans

I got this crock pot as a Christmas Gift about 15+ years ago. It only goes on to high or low heat, but it does do the job of making beans. One day I will get one of those Insta Pots, for now my Crock Pot is fine.

I didn't measure the spices, it was more like eyeballing. The salt was about 1/2 teaspoon, because you can taste at the near end and correct it, but when you add too much salt it's just salty. The olives and the bacon have salt in it so just wait and taste.
Cilantro, not everyone likes it so leave it out and use something else you do like. I also should have chopped the cilantro up, was a bit lazy.
For those that don't eat pork, you can use smoked turkey, which adds a nice flavor to the dish.
Non Meat eater, adjust with spices, you may need to add more of any of the spices.
Ingredients
Dried Black Beans
Olive Oil
1 red onion chopped
3 scallions chopped
crushed garlic
Cilantro
Cut and cubed Rind Bacon
(cut the rind off)
Olives (Delallo Gigante Sliced) most olives will do as long as they are pitted
Home made curry powder, I found a curry recipe https://www.myrecipes.com/recipe/homemade-curry-powder
3 bay leaves
Turkish Cumin
Dill
Ground Sage
Basil
Salt to taste a 1/2 teaspoon or less can go a long way.
Honey this does not make your beans sweet!
Crushed Tomatoes

You can add pepper flakes or some heat to the dish as it's cooking, but be careful not everyone likes hot as hell beans.

.....and finally please share your bean recipe, spices you use, what kind of beans etc etc.
